Yes, I misunderstood you Vegplotmummy, I thought you meant taking cuttings to root in the garden. Sorry for giving out the wrong advice.
Some of my buddleia especially the white one are in flower now, they look wonderful and the perfume is heady (too strong for me) but great for the insects.
This morning I looked at my cutting bed in the garden and noticed from the labels that I had taken them all (buddleia, Hebe, blackcurrant and roses in early October), all are well rooted and ready to be moved into their final growing position, but I won't do that until the weather cools down with more rain too.
@Guernsey Donkey2 I do mean to take a cutting to root in the garden. 😁 I'm making a large flower cutting patch in my garden ready for next year. I've got lots of annuals ready to sow in spring and a couple of perennials. Also foxglove seedlings on the go. Wanted the buddleia as an addition to pop in the flower bed.
I've only had the Profusion one, but I'd assume they're all quite similar. I've never found they last any time when picked. Perhaps you're right and they need sealing. How will you do that - with boiling water?
I have Black Knight, so if you fancy a cutting of it, I'm happy to do one for you. It's a good rich purple. Gets big here - despite a good hacking back!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Fairygirl yes if you use not quite boiling water to seal the stem. Recut, rehydrate and re-seal every couple of days when you refresh the water. If you've got any blooms you could be my guinea pig! and test the theory out 😁 That would be lovely thankyou for offering me that. Appreciate it. I will PM you. @Hostafan1 That is strange isn't it, smells are a funny thing.
