    That is Japanese Anemone. Could be Queen Charlotte.

    Very invasive, its root throw up new plants well away from the original plant. Once you have got it it is hard to get rid of it!

    Claudiae ask your friend if you could take one of its offspring just need to dig up a piece with roots and plant where you want it, given the right conditions they spread easily I divide mine nearly every year this way.
