Fuchsia . How can I ease its suffering?

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I have a large fuchsia ( the kind you get wild in hedgerows.)
Although it's in a south facing garden, it's usually ok.
I've been giving it plenty of water, but I think the real problem is the heat of the sun on the leaves.
Would it help if I pruned it back a bit or a lot, or would that stress it even more?

Keep watering and if that doesn't help remove half the stems to reduce stress on roots and sap flow.
