I don't think there's a third option unless you can think of one.
3rd option here if possible. I would spy up the plant then see if it grows from seed, if not ask around for cuttings from friends.

    Buy from your local independent
I have a very good local garden centre that I use as much as I can. Certainly when I'm in a 'what can I plant here?' sort of mood. I also buy compost and other garden sundries from them. They don't sell Christmas Tat, they don't even have a cafe. They have a few 'special' weekends during the year with local crafts and 'folk art'. They seem to have a good local customer base of people who, like me, prefer to go to them. They have a small number of each of a wide range of plants (the opposite to Wyevale IME). I gather that if you ask them for a particular plant they will try to source it. But if I'm looking for a very specific variety of something, I generally buy online direct from a specialist nursery.

My nearest B and Q is 17 miles away. Nearest Wyevale is 15 miles. Homebase is closest - 10 miles. I imagine this is why the local GC, which is 3 miles away, does well here. And why the local village still has a good range of other shops.
