Ordered seeds from Suttons, 10 packets - postage £1.99 = minimum cost of postage
Ordered seeds from Sarah Raven, 4 packets - postage £5.95!! = minimum cost of postage!!
One has to wonder why the large discrepancy........

    Greed.
I don't know why they can't factor the postage into the price. Then, at least you would know what you're paying.
I often abandon an Amazon purchase at the checkout when I see the eyewatering postage. If they factored it into the price, I would probably not even consider how much of the price was postage.

It's actually cheaper to buy packets of seeds online, in sterling from England, including postage, than to go buy them in the shops here.  You need to add a minimum of 30% of the sterling price to get the euro price here, sometimes it can be up to double the sterling price, depending on the shop.  Ridiculous.......I gather it's to do with our high VAT/duty...... rate of exchange has to be accounted for.  Still doesn't add up to 30% - 50% differential.   Same here with the price of clothes, difference between sterling prices and euro price is eye-watering, as both prices are often on price tags, as mentioned, you need to add a minimum of 30% of the sterling price to get the euro price.  This is standard practice, even when there was almost parity between the currencies several years ago, there was never, ever near parity with the prices of goods.

I buy my seeds from EBay from these shops.  Premier seeds, Seedaholic, Nutsncones and this year’s baskets and tubs plants from Happygreenshop, all about 99p per packet and mostly free postage.

I've bought quite a few things lately from China via Ama*on. The cheapest was 68p for 100 Christmas buttons! That included the postage!! And they come within 3 weeks.

Thanks everyone for the tips........I've never bought anything on e*ay as I thought it was all by auction...........never done Ama*on either.  Will investigate further......
  • If anyone wants anything from Sarah raven I have an offer code for free postage. It excludes some things but seeds etc it will be fine to use. PM me if anyone's interested 😁
