ID this plant please

Hello,
Earlier this year I was about to pull what I tought were weeds. I am pleased I didn't because they flowered around May and they are still going strong (although I think the plant is slowing down now). Bees, bumble bees, butterflies and hoverflies don't seem to get tired of it. Does anyone what they are?
Thank you
Sara

  • It looks like Linaria Purpurea (Purple Toadflax) to me, but some more experienced people will be able to say for sure :)

I agree purple toadflax, much like forget-me-not it self seeds. I like it, in the right place I let it grow
  • Great, I've been wondering all summer what on earth it was.
It's appeared where I was planing to do a bit of a wild garden, so looks like a keeper. I've got some purple and some light pink varieties and loads of seeds. I just hope it doesn't take over the area!

    Thank you for your help!

If you chop those heads off it may well flower again for you. It’s one of my favourite plants and the bees love it.

  • ohhh... job for tomorrow! \o/ thanks
