One thing though, you will need a good depth of slate (3-4 inches) to cover your pale mulch fabric, which will also help to fix it on the slope. You may find it cheaper to order a ton bag if you have somewhere to put it.

Yes, a modern one on a plinth would look good Caroline. Or a couple of bigger stones if you can lift them! Otherwise, what about a small purple acer to tie in with the theme? Garden's looking really good and will be even better next year when the plants have grown a little.
