Gunnera Manicata

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this piece of rhizome from a gunnera manicata if planted, would grow or is it useless? Also what I would need to do to get it going? Everywhere I’ve read, says the rhizome needs leaves - this piece has none. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
