Hibiscus found in privet hedge.

We noticed that our shortish front hedge of variegated privet needs a trim. There seemed to be a rogue shrub in there with dark semi glossy leaves. It is covered in flower buds. Turns out to be a hibiscus.  :o

A strange thing to plant in the middle of a hedge. I think in previous years we had done a second trim by now and lobbed off the future flower heads.

I will be interested to see how well it flowers but it makes an untidy mess of a hedge.

Would it be possible to move it in the autumn after flowering ?
Fill in with another variegated privet .

Sadly I don't think so. The hedge has been there years and I think the roots would be well enmeshed. Probably cause too much damage. I just thought it was a strange thing to plant in a privet hedge, unless it got there by some other route, birds or wind blown seed, but i doubt it. After its flowered we will just trim it all again.
