  Hon, if you want a ball, and it inspires you, go right ahead and make a ball.
  

  Some thoughts here. 

  If you prune back hard it will look like a woody, twiggy mess but will come back green eventually. It will take a bit of patience. You could use the prunings to create new plants.  Good luck.
