Laurel leaves turning black.

My long established laurel bush has suddenly started to turn leaves black. They crumble when touched. It's not water droplets in the sun.

Looks like someone has been spraying weed killer nearby to me!

Everything’s suffering in the heat, it will shoot out again when it’s had a really good soaking, I wouldn’t worry.  Remove the dead leaves for now.

I'd agree with Lyn. It's likely to be current conditions, although, even in any normal year and ocnditions,  all evergreens will shed foliage.

This can happen with acuba. Sometimes whole branches turn black. It's not usually terminal.

Happens to ny Acuba every year, prune out the black foliage and stems, don’t compost. Will be fine
