Pruning Geum Tangerine

MillarificMillarific Posts: 28
I purchased and planted a Geum "Tangerine" about 6 weeks ago.It was in flower when planted and continued for a while, when the flowering finished I cut the flowering stem back to ground level. The plant has been watered and is flourishing, but no new flowers at all. I have researched and found that some recommend cutting the foliage to ground level as well to encourage new growth and flowering later in the season. Others say no to this. I am hoping someone can advise whether I should now remove the foliage to ground level.

Ditto. I also cut my flowering stems back a month or so ago and no further flowers. As yet!

I cut my Mrs Bradshaw down, flower stalks only, and they are just beginning to bud again, so give it time.

Perhaps with an established plant this might be possible. However, your plant has barely found its feet and a massive haircut would come as quite a shock, particularly in such hot dry weather.

    Leave well alone, I say.
MANY THANKS FOR THIS RESPONSE I WILL DO AS YOU ADVISE. I WILL RENCONSIDER NEXT YEAR AFTER FLOWERING
