Sowing Calendula Seeds Late Summer/Early Autumn

Hi, i'm wanting to sow calendula seeds so they flower earlier next year, i've grown from seed this year and they are now beautiful but would really love to have them flowering as early as possible next year so advice would be welcome. Also does anyone know where to buy the really old fashioned calendula seed, the ones I remember as a kid growing wild were quite compact and sturdy and just seemed to self seed year after year.

    Harmony, Send me your address in a Pm and I'll send you some seeds.  I leave them to self seed. I get early flowers from the ones that grew the year before.

    The real seed company used to do a good pot marigold seed mix. I'm still getting enough self-sown seedlings each year to transplant into several large pots.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    Like josusa47, I've also usually got spare self-saved seeds. Great wildlife-friendly and companion plants. Calendula are pretty hardy, so might even survive the winter in the ground, depending on where you are, if you can establish them now.

    Alternatively, if you have a greenhouse, they would probably survive in pots over winter ready to plant out in spring.

    Are you dead-heading? I do that and get them flowering for months on end.
