Cut the flowering stalk down to the ground.

  • dose that include the leaves that are surrounding that stalk too?

Remove each flower as soon as it fades. Although I just leave mine to run its course ...then cut right back early spring

I dont  cut the leaves, just the flower stalk, good to take the seed pods off then the bulb can build for next year.  I treat them as any other bulb, daffs or tulips.

I have found that many glads do not naturalise well as they are not very hardy. There is a purple variety Gladioli Byzantinus that does. You may wish to lift your bulbs for the winter.

I'll second that ; sorting out a garden the other day and G.byzantinus had become a weed ; forcing its way between slabs and other shrubs .

I love gladioli...........never lift them, or any other bulbs, most survive.  It must be quite sheltered here.

I lift gladioli much too wet here but leave daffs.
