Can anybody tell me what root this could be from. We have been cutting back a euphorbia and some comfrey. I have tried searching roots of both these plants but found nothing like the one pictured. Thanks x

I think it used to be crocosmia / montbretia.

    OK thanks Hostafan1
I have got some montbretia (tall thin leaves with beautiful red flower spike) but they are much further along the garden. It actually makes sense now as the root is a little similar to the way the flowers grows.

I was hoping to find comfrey root so I could move it. I know it spreads quickly and grows in most conditions so have an area of garden that I wanted to    re-plant in to keep weeds down a little with the ground cover it gives. Plus the main thing as the bee's seem to love the flower.
