My son ran over my holly bush!

I had two beautiful holly bushes, both produce tons of red berries. After my son mowed over one all that was left is about three 6" roots. I trimmed them close to the ground and only one of the three roots is producing leaves. Will it be as round and tall and bear berries again?

    Hollies are very resilient plants and can withstand severe pruning , even though it was done presumably by a car ? ;)

      Nope; a zero turn mower!

    I planted the two of them in 2009. They are now eight years older. I guess I will just have to live a little longer!

    My 7' front holly hedge seems to want to double its size each year. It's a bugger to prune, esp when it's so eager. It's essentially a 10' tree being forced to crouch. I might reduce it by half in the autumn (no berries) and see what happens.

      These are the size they were when I purchased them. They are about five feet or so now--before one got ambushed.
