Which plant for my fence?

PanoplyPanoply Posts: 75
I have a brand new 5ft wooden fence with concrete posts and a bare patch about 30ft wide that I'd like to cover with a plant. I already own two contenders, a Wisteria frutescens 'Amethyst Falls' and a Jasminum officinale 'Inverleith'. The fence faces South East so gets a good deal of sunlight.

The wisteria was my first choice, but I'm afraid that it will grow too heavy and will damage the fence. To keep it from overwhelming the fence careful maintenance (something I can't guarantee for life) will presumably be required.

I can't, however, see much on the Jasmine Inverleith and its suitability. Does it get very leafy? What does it look like when it loses its leaves? Does it require pruning? Does anyone have any experience they can share with me?

Which plant would you put on the fence? I really don't want to destroy the fence! And what should I do with the plant that doesn't get chosen?

Many thanks!
