Hi Sarah It's not a problem I have any experience of, but bearing in mind your plant is just coming out of intensive care as it were, I think I'd leave it to recover for now. It looks like the flower buds have formed ok and not gone brown, so it's getting enough water now. If you have some rotted compost to mulch it with, that'd be good. Once it's finished flowering next spring, all being well I think you'll be fine to cut it back to encourage new shoots from lower down.

I'd agree with Pete. Just let it recover until spring, enjoy any flowers it produces, and then cut back the bare stems to encourage new growth. You can remove any dead leaves - especially any lying around underneath it, but other than that, just let it carry on doing what it's doing
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Well it survived, and now only about 35% of the leaves have that brown tip. But this year, the flowers didn't open. The petals (?) remained closed, then went damp and sticky before rotting away. Only in the last week have a couple of flower buds opened. I've searched and searched for diseases or conditions that might cause this, but found nothing. Do I need to cut it right back this time, and let everything regenerate, do you think? I'll try to see if I can upload a photo.
