Can anyone tell me what type of plant this is?

Hi,

I used to have this plant but it unfortunately died. I've love to get a new one but no idea what it's called and despite my best efforts with google searches I haven't been able to find photos of anything similar. Does anyone here know what this is?

Coleus.  They come in an almost infinite range of colours so tracking down an indentical one won't be easy.  :)
The trick to keeping them alive is removal of flowers as soon as you see them and taking cuttings which root easily in water.

Hi Karly, could that be a coleus? Flowers not my strong point  :)

They last longer and get more leaves if you pinch off the flower buds.

They also strike easily from cuttings in water  :)

  • I think I would take cuttings and keep the flowers.  :)

    Thanks all! You're amazing!

I loved the flowers, it was such a contrast with the leaves. It survived for well over 6 months with the flowers, then I moved houses and it didn't like it's new location.

I'll be buying a new one. Can't wait to see what colours I get :)
