Rose flowers (uncut) only lasting 48 hours
We were given a rose in June 18, the label describes it as 'bedfranc' (Floribunda 80cm x 60cm)
it has had 7 lovely flower heads each approx 8cm but after the bud bursts the flower only lasts for 48 hours before the petals turn brown and fall off
The plant is in a 30cm pot in a mix of compost with added well rotted manure, it is in a sunny aspect and is well watered
Is there anything we can do to improve the longevity of the flowers
Thanks

As for getting the blooms to last longer, I can only think the rose is suffering in the heat, often blooms blow quickly in these conditions... otherwise, it must be some cultural reason, not enough watering, too small a pot, lack of potash...
I'm sorry, it's not possible to be more specific without knowing anything more about the individual rose... I hope it improves for you over time... it might be better come autumn...

Yes, it is indeed 'Happy Anniversary'
From your comments Ideal for beds and borders' on the label may not be wholly accurate
The first of the flowers came and went before this current heat wave, I am happy there is not too much/little watering, there is a layer of grit in the pot and it is slightly raised so is well drained. Leaves are a lovely rich shiny green and there is new growth coming through
Is there a way of checking the potash level, or if I add some will that only help and not harm?
