My first flower garden.

I have only been into gardening for about 6 months after my wife introduced me to Gardeners World show and Monty Don.  I am posting my first flower garden and I would like suggestions.  Thank you.

    Welcome!
    This is mainly a British forum so Hard to suggest what would grow for you , all depends on your soil, sun aspect and what style you like.

    Welcome to the wonderful world of gardening. Be warned it's a very infectious bug and can be an extremely expensive habit. However there are so many compensations.

    You're doing well there Dave.  The uneven shaped stones and the weathered wooden bench give it an air of informality.  And the grass isn't overly manicured.

    Thank you for your comments. I am enjoying everyone's support.  I hope more will comment.  I will post more photographs soon to show more of what I am doing.  Some of it is a little more whimsical for the little ones when they visit.

    Gardeners are such friendly people.

    Welcome @shockley.dave. You have made a great start on your new hobby! I love the oranges and lime colours together - I have a similar colour scheme in one of my beds. Is it a sunny border/sunny climate? You may find that the Japanese Maple/Acer will be prone to scorching if so, however, it is looking fantastic. Is the Acer new to you? You will have a treat from it when Autumn comes (Fall!) 🍁

    Hazel I am still learning the names of the flowers.  My wife buys them and I plant.  She is not well enough to do that yet, but I am loving it.  Thanks for your response.

    @AuntyRach thank you.  We have been carting around the Acer for a few years in a pot until we found a permanent home.  We plan to move it in the late falls to a spot all it's own.

    I hope to see everyones gardens here as soon as I learn my way around this program.

    Two good sites for inspiration, Dave are thespruce.com and bhg.com, both US sites and often feature plants for a specific US climate.  Think you have made a great start. The Acer is a lovely specimen tree that would look good in its own large pot, then you can move it around to fond the best position - they tend turn green in full sun as well as go crispy!

    @Nollie Thank you for the suggestions.  I will take a look at thespruce.com  I looked at bhg.com yesterday looking for design software.  I really appreciate your comments. Here are a few more photos.  I hope this isn't taboo, but I added a little Whimsical section for the grandchildren.  Now I need to take a look at everyone's gardens.  What is the easiest way to do that? I will click on the names and see what happens.  Best Regards
