We have two prunus amanagowa which have spread (presumably by suckers?) and are appearing in the borders. Do we have to dig these out and how can we stop this happening again?

    If the rootstock is damaged, they will send up suckers. Pull them off if you can. They will be a common cherry rootstock, not the Amanogowa, grafted on top.

    I agree with fb and just to emphasise - Pull them off - if you cut them off, a whole bunch of them will appear around the cut.
