Flowers to plant now

Evening Gardeners,

I have quite a few gaps in my garden at the moment, and want to go to the garden centre and buy a few flowering plants at the weekend.

Any ideas for what to look for to make an impact this year in a sunny spot.

Thanks!

Lots of annual bedding plants at the moment in the garden centres. Something that loves the heat but will cope with bad weather if the rain dance works.  African marigolds are big, brash, and will cope with heat or rain.  Bedding dahlias will flower from now until the frosts.
  • Thanks @fidgetbones, I love dahlias. You're right about the rain dance - still jigging here with little effect!

I was at the Range today, most of their garden plants were dead or dying.
