Should I cut this plant back now

this plant was lovely all through summer but has gone quite tired looking. Should I leave it or cut back?

    It’s a salvia, if you cut the dead flowers off they sometimes bloom again. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    I’ve been doing that - will remove the last few flowers. It just looking a bit sad.

    I know what you mean Nettie, I grow quite a lot of those just for the bees and they do get very tatty. If you’re fed up with you could cut it down to the ground, it will come up again next year, they also self seed you you could see some little ones next Spring. 

    You can easily save some seeds as well, they good for germinating, then you’ll be sure to have some next year. 
    Make sure they are black on the plant before you pick them off.
