We had a dead mole on our drive, they are so dry they are coming out during the day.
i did have one cat who would catch them but thi slazy thing won’t catch anything, sleeps by the bird food, they take no notice of him. The pheasant terrorises him.
You can put a mole trap down once you’ve found which way the tunnel is running.

My mostly greyhound lurcher catches voles, without the digging.  I don't let him out near the veg garden though, where I had trouble with voles all last year, as I don't care for dog wee on my kale, etc.

I finally got rid of the voles this spring by:
-stuffing cut prickly boys hair down holes and tunnels
-running a hose down holes for ten minutes or so to make it muddy and annoying for voles (not to drown them, it was in my raised beds where the soil is well draining.. and I garden in a sandy desert).
-gathering snake poo, skins, and sand from a neighbor who keeps them as pets, and putting that in and around holes
-digging around the area where I found the most holes and tunnels, to disturbed them

There is ample fields and other area of my yard for them to go to.. I just don't want them in my garden eating all my veg.

My dad used to run the hose down the mole holes but it never seemed to work as they just dig off in another direction.
OH just found another one dead on top of the soil. I feel sorry for them then, not so when they dig up the garden.

Got up this morning and they have moved up nearer to our home by 45 ft or so. Errrrrr.Hubby (not too happy) will try your suggestions. Thanks for all your advice much appreciated. Enjoy the weather.
  • If it's moles they are really struggling cos they can't dig deep enough to get worms. They also need to drink twice daily I keep finding dead moles in the field on the surface.good for meat eating birds so don't worry this dry weather might sort it out just carefully put soil back
