Geranium thug name - so that I can avoid it

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I want to get a few geraniums, but there's a particular thug that I want to avoid. I can't post a pic as I pull it out whenever I see it.
It's got bright pink flowers and the roots go very deep. It doesn't t have that woody bit that rests on the soil. The leaves are pointed (sort of acer shaped)and sometimes have a dark red spot in the middle. They don't smell.

Thuggy and pink?  Wargrave pink immediately springs to mind B3.

The rhs site says salmon pink. The one I'm talking about is pink pink almost Barbie  but at least I know another one to avoid. Thanks again :)

I've had another look and the pictures on Google look right. It's the salmon thing that threw me. I've never seen salmon that colour unless the beetroot leaked over it!

Are the leaves anything like this one B3?
    (ignore the aquilegiea)

No flowers left but it's a Barbie pink one. I don't know the name, it's another "lovely plant" gift from my mum 😶.

Do you mean geranium sanguineum? although I don’t find it invasive 😬

No kitty, I like that one!
Nannie, I like that one too. I've planted that one

What about Geranium Psilostemon, Armenian Cranesbill. They're supposed to be fast growing. Never grown that before.

Dove's foot cranesbill? Don't think the leaves are pointed though, so probably not.

    I've  found  some  seedlings.
First one  is definite and very  young.
The second is probably   90% but there's some  good guys  nearby.

Thanks Nanniemo 😊. I shall try to remember that, I think the common name of "Bloody cranesbill" will stick in my brain better than the botanical sanguineum
