Hi, just been to a friends & she’s just had a David Austin rose delivered.
but we are wondering if the black on it is the start of black spot.
Does anyone know from picture attached

Yes a touch of black spot, or some other foliage issue, very common this time of year and nothing to worry about, it's to be expected.. although to be honest they don't usually send out container roses showing signs of black spot as far as I know, all the ones I've got from them have been clean, so I thought they must spray them..

If it  bothers you just cut those leaves off, or turn a blind eye as I do, plant it, pot it, whatever you intend to do and keep it well watered.... there is no need to supply food at this time..  well, apart from some liquid tomato fertilizer in the water, if you have some, but it's not essential...

Ah thanks for that. I thought you had to cut off every leaf affected.
