    @Valley Gardener :)   I think you can hire them from Homebase and B&Q (well, from our local ones you can) ... but if you've not used one before it's probably just as well to get someone in who's used to using one and has the safety gear.

  • poison has to go somewhere once it has done it's job with the stump , and it will only kill it and will not remove it . Another point in favour of the stump grinder approach is they are quite fun to use in a way , just find a good approach through surrounding fauna to avoid too many casualties. . . 

    Grow it yourself, it's worth it in the end. . .

    !!! :o Hopefully there won't be any fauna around to become casualties   ....  any nearby flora should be moved and replaced after the stump has bees ground away.
