Brown/yellow patches of grass in new turf

Hi all,

Can anybody explain the reason for the small patches of brown/yellow grass in the middle of the garden? It's been well watered since the new turf was lay in May this year, and we don't have pets.

Thanks James

Needs a close-up pic to have any chance of identifying it but it could be red-thread.

Take a look at the following link of potential reasons and compare your symptoms.

I think you are right about red-thread. Is it normal to get this so soon after the turf being layed in May? could it have been prevented?

Warm temperatures and damp are ideal conditions for red thread ... you had to water as your lawn was laid at the beginning of a drought so it's just one of those things ... your lawn looks fantastic compared to mine which doesn't have a single blade of green at the moment ... count your blessings lol

Red thread usually resolves itself when the weather cools.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
