Any thoughts on this wriggly resident?

    I would imagine it would be fine as it is, I raise my tropical moths in artificial circumstances and have to keep them more humid but your 'fluff' is in its natural environment, apart from the tree. They'll probably be OK in the loft but they will need their foodplant quite quickly after hatching so it would be best to keep checking on them. My book says they hibernate but it seems an awful long time from now til spring. Saying that though, many of my stick and leaf insects take months to hatch too.

    This was such an interesting thread last year. Such an astonishing thing to watch a pupa while my father was dying. And the cycle begins again.

    Has anyone else read the girl of the limberlost, by gene stratton-porter?  My absolute favorite book as a kid/teenager.... butterflies and moths are central to the story.  A classic of it’s time.
