Comfrey plant

I thinking growing comfrey plant in my garden for green manure, I am just wondering is it a good idea to grow it in your garden. I think I already got growing in my lawn which I pulled out and put on the compost but not quite sure.I will picture of it later all gardener tell if i am wrong.

Hi parvinkaurp, comfrey is a very useful plant in my garden but I made sure I have the Bocking14 plant which is sterile and so can't self seed. I get more plants by dividing the roots every few years.

I don't know about 'green manure' but I use mine chopped up in the compost when I'm a bit light on the green stuff and for making comfrey tea. Also handy for putting in the bottom of the potato and runner bean trenches.

Plenty of pictures of the plant on the internet if you need to check what you found in your lawn.

I think something like clover or alfalpha is better as a green manure.
