Broccoli &carrots flowering

I've come back from holiday to find my carrots and broccoli starting to flower. Should I harvest now or am I too late?

First time I've grown veg so wasn't expecting flowers.

Cut the flowers off the broccoli and eat, the plants will produce more little side shoots. The flowering carrots pull one up and see if it is tough, if it is maybe leave the others for the bees. I'm wondering why the carrots have flowered. have they gotten dry? I've never had a carrot bolt.
  • The carrots are in a big trough but south facing so it's been pretty hot recently. I've never grown veg before so wasn't really expecting this.
