Rose dead wood

Hi, I purchased and planted a lady of Shalot David Austin rose several months back, she's in partial shade, gets about 3-4 hours of full in sun a day on a East facing wall, got another rose about a meter and half way doing splendid. However poor old lady doesnt look to be having a great time of it, hasn't grown much since being planted  - has produced  two flowers, noticed a lot of dead wood on the plant today. Is she doomed or should I prune back the dead wood or wait till Autumn?

I always remove dead wood as soon as I see it because it is an easy place for diseases and pests to get established on a plant.

The new growth looks reasonably OK but I would cut back those stems with black parts on back to below any discolouration.  Try and cut just above a bud if you can and slope the cut so water runs off.  Give it a feed and plenty of water and I'm sure it'll bounce back. :)

I have a LOS planted last year, in full sun, she put on a lot of growth but few and disappointing blooms, cream, very short-lived, but this year is blooming fantastic and the colour is amazing. She may just need a bit of time to establish, although 3-4 hours of sun may not be enough for her to reach full potential.
