    Pruning a third at a time is normal and good advise but yours is so straggly,huge and ugly I would risk no flowers in 2019 to get a shorted better looking plant...with flowers in 2020

  • Thank you silver surfer. Although the flowers were nice, I don’t think we’d miss them for a year. It’s in a section of the garden we probably won’t get round to completing until next summer anyway.
