Hi Poppie - apologies for my slow response. I think the real issue is the growing conditions. Even a healthy, sturdy, easy shrub like Eleagnus will struggle if the soil it's growing is is no good. Rubble and poor soil means the water just goes straight through and disappears - very little is going into the plant. In the right conditions - that should be big and bushy by now. Don't worry - just address it, and in six months or a year, it should be much better. If you're going to lift it and pot it up, or move it to a better site, give it a real soaking first, and prep the pot or new planting hole really well before replanting it
I’m sorry to I am still getting used to this site! But I will be trying this soon and will let you know the outcome
Hello I re planted the plant into fresh new manure compost and also watered it etc I did what you said and it looked good but I am back to it looking yellow and wilting and i think maybe it is a fungal disease or something as new growth turns brown and dies any ideas?
New shoots on Eleagnus are covered in silvery grey scales. Yours look fine to me, just leave them be and they will grow bigger and gradually turn green

Oh okay thank you for helping me I’ve been so worried as it looks like it’s wiktibgg and because some leaves are yellowing and I have sparse areas I thought it was dying or diseased! But I will be patient and watch it carefully
