Slugs are great swimmers, I don't think a moat would put them off at all. They might see it as a paddling pool. If you have hard surfaces away from plants, try a wide ring of rock salt. That should put them off. Or a plastic table etc with feet placed in saucers of salt.

Really? The ones already in the boxes look dead to me... tricky b@$!@*#$ trying to beat my system!  ha ha Now I have to get up and fish them out  :D

    Never ending  :s

You never know if we get some rain this will not be such a problem, who would have thought we would be saying that! I hope you have a lovely holiday and your plants are keeping well when you come home :)
    Thank you  :)

I know who'd of thought that we'd be willing it to rain in July eh? I'd be happy if it just rained at night time to be honest, just to help the garden out and clear the air but hey ho it'll be autumn and wet soon enough and i'll be moaning about that I'm sure ha ha

I did a whole pile of slug tests last year. They were fine with water, only salt deterred them. But maybe mine are super hard core.

I've used a syphon hose to suck little worms from the bottom of the water butt.
    I'm all heart.

You're a kind soul, meanwhile here in Surrey I launch the slugs over the fence or pop them on the arbour roof for the birds  :D

I used to throw snails over the fence until one day they came flying right back. image

Luckily for my lovely neighbour but modt unfortunately for the slugs they go over the fence that's the side of oncoming traffic... i guess it's also unfortunate for unsuspecting drivers too  :p

I'm nurturing my healthy population of leopard slugs. I'm hoping they will be effective predators.
