My blasted baby magpies have moved on, thank God. They were driving me potty - same set up, a flat roof next to a Velux window.
  • There are a family of magpies in a neighbour's conifer so you have my sympathy!  These spend half the day warring with the jackdaws.

I would have moved them on Fire, I hate the way they take little fledglings and pull them apart in the air to feed their babies.  All nature, but I’d prefer they do it elsewhere.

I gave in with my chirping sparrows and took a brush to the hedge and they shot off down the back gardens of my neighbours.
I was going to get my hedge cut right back and was worried about the fledglings so i contacted one of the UK bird societies and emailed with a chap in The Hebrides. He told me its best not to cut back hedges until after mid June so the nests are not exposed to magpies. I cut it on June 13th my birthday......which was nice.
