I have large pots on both wooden stands and metal ones with wheels. I find it easier to move the pots on the metal ones as they have a rim to hold.

. Yes I leave them on the movers permanently as it stops the pots marking the patio and I move pots around according to what's in flower.
It also makes it a bit more difficult for snails to get access to the plants.

I like to use a sack trolley personally. You can get some pretty versitile ones these days
