Rain has come at last!

Had a downpour last night, really heavy for 5+ mins. The garden looks refreshed even my lawns are looking a tiny tiny bit better everything lost that dusty dry look, raining now but only fine stuff you know the stuff that clings to you! Forecast rain again today and then back to hot 26 by Sunday. Hey ho!
On another topic I'm new to GW but I see we have some very knowledgeable people out there and some happy, funny people! love the quotes people put on, great photos too, glad I joined!

Hello and welcome Rubypop. I've got rain here too and I never thought I would hear myself saying this but I'm so happy!

No rain forecast here for at least 10 days!
  • No rain in Kent either. Some isolated showers last Thurs but that’s it. They are so heavy the water just seems to run of rather than soak in :(

The fine clingy stuff turned into another downpour for about 10 mins now stopped just a few puddles , sky very dull so maybe more to come..going to have to take an umberella out with me this morning and wear shoes!! (Rather than sandals)
Sorry there's not much rain around the country maybe your turn next!

This morning I used my apple corer to see how deep last nights water had penetrated it was probably only about a centimeter.
My previous use of an household utensil was using the jam thermometer last year to get the temperature of the hot compost. It was about 76C.
I do wash my home utensils properly after such use.  :D:D

Good for topping up water butts, though.

Hi @Rubypop, welcome to the forum 😊.

I did a little happy dance this morning when I looked out and saw it was raining ☔👍. Not seen 'proper rain' here since April.

There's a 1cm puddle in the bottom of my potting tray, wish it was deeper but it's better than nothing 😉.
