No LAWN after using Evergreen Lawn Feed and Moss Killer

Similar to another gardener who complained about Evergreen 4 in 1, my complaint is regarding their Lawn Feed and Moss Killer. They claim that it promotes healthy grass within 3 to 4 days. I put this down exactly according to their instructions and after 1 day I was left with nothing but black patches and no longer any grass whatsoever. On contacting Scotts (the makers) they asked for the bottle in order to check it. Their only response was to claim that I must have 'over dosed' the lawn and offered nothing by way of sensible advice on how to recover my lawn. I'm very disappointed in the product and the 'service' from Scotts.  It's now about 8 weeks since it was applied and there's absolutely no sign of any recovery!

I find it hard to even consider spreading this stuff on my grass, there's flora and fauna out there

There's several threads about this - as there is every year. The problem usually is that people don't apply it correctly [ normally far too much used ] and they apply it in the wrong conditions.

The product works very well, but it's hard to apply correctly (even if you've read the instructions and think you're doing it right!). Have you got some photos you could post up? Was the lawn a sea of moss? Have you had any rain or given it a serious amount of sprinkler time?

nutcutlet... you're off on a tangent there.... keep it relevant eh? If you can't assist then don't reply maybe?

I was also wondering if you applied the evergreen 4 in 1 in this drought. I have done something similar myself.

Nut is not on a tangent. Thread comments often recommend not using a product.  It can be as useful advice as anything else. Nut is offering advice that is relevant and assisting. Consumers often do not realise the full consequences of using a weed killer or a pesticide. We are all here to learn.

Absolutely.  I'm keeping my "weeds".  They're green - often greener than the grass when it's dry - and they have pretty flowers which are covered in insects just now.   Positively buzzing with life.

If I'm on a tangent it's one I'm happy to be on.
But I don't see all comments that are made :):)

Threads here seem to be pretty broad ranging. Those making creative connections seem to me to be the most interesting discussions of all. I'm all for the left field.

Don't despair.  It will start to come back if we have prolonged and significant rainfall but it might not recover until next year.

Back when I used to use lawn weed/feed I have had exactly the same result and that was despite pegging out square metres over my lawn with string and weighing out the prescribed amount per square m etc.

Edited to add - and I soaked it night and day with the sprinkler afterwards....still burnt the whole lawn.
