I adore pelargoniums. I like to have a couple of pots of scented varieties in the shade (Royal Oak and Orange Fizz) and a few zonals in pots dotted around the garden. This year I've gone mad with shades of scarlet by the bins.....it's an area that needs all the help it can get and pelargoniums are perfect.
They are lovely, bright and cheerful in the garden though I find the perfume of their leaves, when touched, slightly too heavy. However, invaluable in the garden
I love Pelargoniums, but I don’t have a good place to overwinter them sadly. I would have to treat them like annuals. In the future, when all my extra funds aren’t going into establishing the garden, I’d like to have some as I really enjoy them.
If you love Pelargoniums, pitter-patter, if you haven’t already, try and go and see the patio festival in Córdoba, some time in May. Simply stunning, with inner courtyards and balconies everywhere dripping with them - stunning. Gorgeous time of year to visit Andalucia, with wildflowers everywhere too!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
