Unusual flowers

gelias1gelias1 Posts: 4
These flowers first appeared in my Aunts garden a few years back she has no idea where from. The flowers last a day spread everywhere come in many colours and are about the size of a saucer. Any ideas as to what they are?? We would be most grateful for an identification.

England. They are growing very happily and profusely in Essex

Thank you so much!! How they ended up in Essex is a mystery. They survived last year's hard winter and spread by seed readily.

I couldn't get them to flower more than one year from bulbs. Not hot enough here oop north.

I think they must have arrived in bird droppings. They certainly love Essex and survived in an open aspect all through last winter's snow. Thank you so much for your positive identification.
