How do I look after this 😬

Liz WarnerLiz Warner Posts: 199
I was given this house plant as a birthday present. It doesn’t have a label but is a bonsai if some sorts. With the pot it’s about 2 foot high. Where do I put it and how do I keep it alive? Thanks

I think it may be better if you joined a specific bonsai web site, It could be a bit too much for people to tell everything you need to do on here, there’s a lot too it,  maybe there’s a specialist on here, but I think a site just for those would be your best bet.🙂

    Lovely plant.
    Tough as old boots
Have a look at this site for care.

  • I would take it out of the pot, root prune it and plant it into a bonsai pot.

Thank you everyone. I’d never heard of a bonsai pot before. I’ll get shopping. Looks like it should be hard to kill!!

Lucky old you Liz! I love Bonsai and kept them for years. They are fascinating to keep, and very therapeutic to trim!
Get yourself a nice bonsai dish and saucer, proper compost, which is gritty, and trim the roots fairly hard.Press the compost down quite tightly so there's no air.Water from the bottom, they drink a lot.
When you trim the top, hold it up to eye level and trim off any leaves that are below the branch, plus any strays,so it looks "shapely"
I used to keep mine outside.
I've no doubt there are other ways, but I never lost a tree!
Ps. Treat yourself to the bonsai scissors, well worth it!
