Trimmer/Brushcutter gets hot at the cutting end of the main shaft.

I have an Echo SRM4000 brushcutter/trimmer.  The other day, after about 40 minutes use, the nylon cutting cord in the head needed replacing so I turned it off and went to unscrew the head from it and I noticed that the end of the main shaft where the head attaches to was very hot - almost too hot to hold.  I've not noticed this before and wondered if it's normal and, if not, what can I do about it?
I'd appreciate any advice.

Have you greased or serviced the angle transmission recently? If you don't have the manual then it should be available on-line and it will give you all the maintenance details in there. Usually they just need a squeeze of lithium grease in there so that might be worth a try and see if it runs cooler afterwards.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
