Cleaning tiller

What ho one and all,

SWMBO has asked me to till some beds.  Using my Honda FG110 with digging tines, it has bee very successful but created, not surprisingly, lost of dust.

I would love to give the tiller a splash with my pressure washer, but not sure if this is a good idea (or not)?  Obviously, it should be running at the time, but is it something worth doing and if so, what precautions should I take?

Thanks and toodle pip,

Rex

I would have thought the hosepipe with a nozzle on would do the job. I think a pressure washer is overkill.

Valid point and would certainly remove most of the dust.  Just figured the area around the carb is very dusty and a pressure wash would blast into corners that one cannot see.

I'm more concerned about water getting into whatever water can get into and how do I prevent that happening?   I guess water cannot get into the carb, but what about the magneto and various contacts, wherever they are?

I wouldn't try that with the engine running. If water did get sucked in to the engine it would wreck it. A pressure washer could easily destroy the air filter and allow the engine to ingest water.

Just turn the hose pipe on it when it is off and COLD. chucking cold water onto hot metal isn't going to do it any favours.
