Help need - Shrub recommendations

Ryan180680Ryan180680 Posts: 202
I'm after some advice really on a replacement shrub needed for our red phormium that seems to have died with the harsh winter and now dry summer. I need another red coloured shrub which is fast growing and will have an impact almost immediately. Any suggestions?

If it's fast growing it's going to be a thug and give you pruning and care problems later on so maybe better to be patient.

You've not given us much to go on - what's your soil like? Is it a sunny spot? Or shaded? Are you in Scotland or Cornwall?
Asa 'throw it out there' option, cotinus coggygria has fabulous rich leaf colour. It's quite big and won't grow in a very exposed position
