Yarrow maintenence

Aurum66Aurum66 Posts: 65
I've never grown yarrow successfully, but the two I've planted are going well in the new garden. I have new growth coming from the base of one so wondered if I should cut back the old flowerheads 50% or not at all? they still look healthy and pretty but wondered if the new growth would benefit from their removal?

When the flower heads die right off, (which they will) you can cut them right off from the ground or else they’ll self seed everywhere!
It won’t make a different to the plant growing again. Next year you may see loads of little ones around.
Never cut a flower stalk half way, it looks awful. Take it right out.

Thanks Lyn. i’ll Do that. Although I might not mind a little self seeding the first year as it’s a completely near garden and needs some help filling out and looking more relaxed so maybe I’ll leave a couple of heads?

One will do, there’s thousands of seeds in a head.
