Refund is a result at least!
Broughton Star is quite tough so it should have been ok, but sometimes these things happen. They need a lot of room though - montanas get big.  It sounds like you've done all the right things re your soil etc, although new builds are notorious for having all sorts of stuff buried and you don't know about it!
If you can be bothered shoving it somewhere in a corner and leaving it - you may as well. Nothing to lose  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Just to add, clematis are wonderful at 'playing possum' and reappear one or even two years later

I think this leaf fail is just sort of the normal life of a honeysuckle! Once they have flowered they go limp, leaves yellow and many drop   Mine cover big spaces so I dint have time to pampaer them but I have never had one that  didn’t pop back the next year bright and breezy

Thanks Lily Pilly,  the honeysuckle hasn't flowered but then it is newly planted so I didn't expect it to, however I was advised early on that it might be short of water and I think they are right because it is recovering now i have given it lots extra and there are no more brown leaves, I think the recent cooler weather helped
