Poppy - princess Victoria louise

This has been the first year that my poppy has had any real amount of flowers that have lasted however, as soon as the last flower died so did nearly all the leaves. Does this mean my poppy has had it??  I’ve had years before where it’s not looked it’s best but it’s always bounced back. I’ll be repotting it soon and would appreciate any advice as to the best conditions and soil to use to give it a fighting chance. Any help is greatly appreciated x

Cut down all the dying leaves now. Water well and it should put out fresh green leaves. I will be surprised if you have killed it. usually they will withstand anything and still come up next year.  It will be best in the ground rather than a pot.

The only place I can put it in the ground is my front garden which is mostly clay and it’s north facing so I’m worried it won’t get enough light. I am getting some really big deep planters next week (blocx planters). Would it thrive better in the clay or the planter which will be in a south facing garden x. Thanks for your advice. I’ll give it some talc in the morning x

It would be better in the sunny position.  If the planter is big enough it will be OK.
