Hi all,

I need some help to ID some plants for a friend - these are the ones in question:

Thanks in advance,

Martin

    1.  Hypericum
    2. Sarcococca confusa (Sweet box)
    3.
    4. Apple tree?

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

I think the second photo looks more like a Euonymus Japonicus

I thought it could be a euonymous too, but I think the foliage might just be yellowed by sun, giving it a variegated look?
The third one is a conifer, but there are so many that it's hard to define any particular variety. It won't regrow from those brown bits though, where it's been cut back too far.
Hypericum for the first - yes, and I also think apple - but many fruit trees are quite similar. Is there fruit on it, or was there any blossom earlier in the year?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • With regards to the tree, I have no idea - from what I understand the whole lot minus the Hypericum is coming up anyway, the ID was to ensure there was nothing that needs special treatment, so to speak.

My sarcococca confusa looks exactly like the one in the pic at the moment, having been yellowed by the strong sunlight this year, exactly as @Fairygirl says.

Agree with Dove.  3 looks like Cypress hedge of some kind - I think there are some blue ones.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    I would say,
    2 Euonymus
3 some type of cypress (crush the leaves)
    3 apple
